David Cunningham, CFP®
Founder and CEO
David is the founder and CEO of LW Advisors. David grew up in Des Moines and attended Truman State University where he graduated with a BA and MA in music.
After seven years in the teaching field, David began his career in the financial planning and investment profession in 1990. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 1994.
David celebrated 30 years as an advisor in October of 2020. He considers it an incredible privilege to serve his clients over the years.
Prior to founding LW Advisors, David was manager of planning and portfolio strategy at HJN Advisors and co-founder of Legacy Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa. He has been a presenter of Executive Financial Planning workshops and a guest columnist for the Des Moines Register.
Active in his community, has served on the Waukee school board, and volunteers at Bethel Mission and Door of Faith Men’s Shelter.
He is married to Janice and has three children and four grandchildren.
